Job Summary:
The
Respiratory Therapist will be
responsible for providing treatment,
care and evaluation for patients with
respiratory insufficiencies. Job

The
Respiratory Therapist will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

The
Respiratory Therapist will deliver and
assess responses to ordered therapy per
plan of care including routine and
intensive therapy and diagnostic
procedures
-
He/She
will utilize various types of oxygen and
other therapeutic gas equipment such as
masks, tents and incubators
-
Administer prescribed doses of medicinal
gases and aerosol drugs
-
The
Respiratory Therapist will measure
ventilatory volumes, pressures and blood
gas analysis
-
Monitor,
record, and communicate patient
condition and general acceptance of
treatment
-
Perform a
variety of duties related to setting up,
operating, cleaning, sterilizing, and
storing respiratory therapy equipment
-
The
Respiratory Therapist will respond to
emergency team calls
-
Educate
patients and family members and provide
information about community support
groups and other available programs
-
Provide
age and culturally appropriate care
-
He/She
will orient and mentor new staff members
-
The
Respiratory Therapist will follow
Standard Precautions using personal
protective equipment as required.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Respiratory Therapist Job

The
Respiratory Therapist must be able
to perform frequent standing,
bending, reaching, squatting,
kneeling and moving equipment
-
He/She should possess critical
thinking skills, decisive judgment
and the ability to work with minimal
supervision
-
The
Respiratory Therapist must be able
to work in a stressful environment
and take appropriate actions in
volatile situations
-
He/She should possess customer
service abilities including
effective listening skills.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Respiratory Therapist Job
Graduate of Respiratory Care program
accredited by the Committee on
Accreditation for Respiratory Care
(CoARC)
CRTT
or RRT
State
licensure
BLS
health care provider
ACLS
preferred.
