Job Description:

The Science Teacher 7th & 8th Grades will perform all or some of the following Job description:

• Teach 7th and 8th grade science

• Develop and refine Excel’s science curriculum

• Provide coverage during non-instructional time

• Co-lead a homeroom and serve as an advisor to a subset of students

• Serve as a productive member of the Excel Academy community

• Doing whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheld.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Science Teacher 7th & 8th Grades Job

• Commitment to urban education
• Belief that every student should be held to the highest academic and behavioral expectations
• Understand that a structured environment is essential for learning
• Openness to change, willingness to problem-solve, and interest in developing new ideas & programs
• Previous teaching experience
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus
• Systems-thinker with the ability to focus on outcomes who will thrive in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and will encourage/support others in doing their best work
• High level of zest, grit, hope, gratitude, enthusiasm, tenacity, and humor
• Optimized use of every minute of the school day together with a longer school day and year
• Individualized support to ensure that every student is on the path to higher education irrespective of the challenges they face
