The Kindergarten Teacher will be responsible for providing a suitable learning environment, supervision, and motivation of assigned pupils.

Job Description:

The Kindergarten Teacher will perform all or some of the following Job description:

• Plan effective lessons aligned with elementary level State Framework

• Motivate pupils’ interest and maintain a classroom environment conducive to instruction in general education curriculum, and learning in particular

• Properly supervise pupils to insure health and safety as well as positive interaction encouraging creativity

• Work cooperatively with teaching colleagues to plan, develop curriculum, assist in budgeting, care for pupil projects and maintain displays

• Contribute to the proper inventory, care, maintenance, storage, and repair of materials and equipment, along with other department members

• Attend and actively participate in department and full faculty meetings

• Maintain ongoing communication with parents relative to pupil progress including preparation of interim progress reports, quarterly grades for report cards, participation in parent teacher conference days, and other written telephone/personal conferences as necessary

• Spend appropriate time outside of regular school hours to prepare classes, assess student work, and perform ancillary duties.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Kindergarten Teacher Job

• Deep knowledge and understanding of State Standards and Grade Level Expectations

• Experience using a standards-based mathematics program such as Investigations

• Experience teaching reading and writing using a workshop model

• Knowledge of inquiry based science instruction

• Understanding of how to integrate 21st century skills into the kindergarten curriculum

• Knowledge of Responsive Classroom strategies and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

• Commitment to the success of all students

• Ability to collaborate and work within a team

• Knowledge of early childhood development

• Strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness and creative, artistic abilities

• 0-6 years of experience.
