Job Summary:
The
Elementary School Assistant Principal
will, under direction, serve as
assistant instructional leader and
assistant administrative officer of an
elementary school.

Elementary School Assistant Principal will perform
all or some of the following Job

Exercise vision and provide
leadership that appropriately
involves staff, parents, students,
and the community in the
identification and accomplishment of
the school's mission
Recognize the individual needs of
all staff and students, including
those who are at risk because of
diverse cultures, backgrounds, or
abilities
Applies effective human relations
skills
Encourage and develop the leadership
of others
Analyze relevant information, make
decisions, delegate responsibility,
and provide appropriate support and
follow-up
Identify and creatively coordinate
the use of available human,
material, and financial resources to
achieve the school's mission and
goals
Bond the school community through
shared values and beliefs
Initiate and manage constructive
change; advance the professional
through participation as a member of
local, state, and national
professional groups
Involve staff, parents, students and
the community in setting goals;
identify, in collaboration with
staff, parents, and students the
decision-making procedures the
school will follow; apply the
process of consensus building both
as a leader and as a member of a
group
Regularly assess the teaching
methods and strategies being used
and ensure that they are
appropriate, varied and effective;
apply principles of teaching and
learning for both children and
adults; articulate effective
classroom management and planning
processes
Use collaborative strategic planning
to help identify and accomplish the
school's mission, goals and
objectives
Recruit, select, assign, and
organize staff in such a way as to
assure the greatest potential for
the accomplishment of the school's
mission
Facilitate the identification,
training, and monitoring of the
staff to insure effective support in
accomplishing the strategic plan of
the district
Attract volunteers and provide them
effective training and meaningful
assignments; provide a safe, orderly
climate for learning; manage the
operation and maintenance of the
physical plant.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Elementary School
Assistant Principal Job
Three (3) years classroom teaching
experience, preferably at the
elementary school level
Knowledge of child development and a
special understanding of
pre-adolescent and early adolescent
youth
Knowledge of
the
philosophy of elementary school
education; human relations,
especially with respect to other
school district personnel such as
teachers, counselors, coordinators
and school district administrators
in the fields of curriculum,
personnel and business
Knowledge of the
problems of parents and community
leaders
Knowledge of the
principles and practices of school
administration, including school
finances, teaching methods and
techniques, evaluations, and program
development, applicable federal,
state and local laws, regulations,
ordinances and policies
Knowledge of
human
resources development; school law;
conflict resolution; public
relations; principles of effective
management, staff supervision and
administration
Strong ability to
plan,
organize, assign and coordinate the
activities of a professional and
support staff
Strong ability to
present ideas effectively, verbally
and in writing
Ability to
deal
constructively with conflict and
develop consensus
Ability to
select, supervise and evaluate
subordinates.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Elementary School Assistant Principal
Job
Master's Degree in School
Administration or related field
Possession of, or ability to obtain,
a valid State driver's license with
a driving record acceptable to the
District
Valid Sate teaching license
State
School Administrator Endorsement
must be obtained prior to placement
as an administrator.
