Teach
knowledge and skills in art,
including crafts, drawing, painting,
lettering, design, commercial art,
art history, and three-dimensional
art, following the course of study
adopted by the School Committee, and
other appropriate learning
activities

Instruct pupils in citizenship and
basic subject matter specified in
state law and administrative
regulations and procedures of the
school

Provide instruction by which pupils
develop aesthetic concepts and
appreciations and the ability to
make qualitative judgments about art

Demonstrate techniques in activities
such as drawing, painting, and
modeling, using standard and
teacher-prepared instructional aids

Oversee personnel as designated by
the Principal or the Superintendent

Develop instructional plans and
organize class time to provide a
balanced program of instruction,
demonstration, and working time

Provide individual and small-group
instruction to adapt the curriculum
to the needs of pupils with varying
intellectual and artistic abilities,
and to accommodate a variety of
instructional activities

Establish and maintain standards of
pupil behavior needed to provide an
orderly and productive student
environment

Instruct pupils in proper care and
use of tools and equipment

Organize storage areas and control
use of materials, equipment and
tools to prevent loss or abuse, and
to minimize time required for
distribution and collection

Evaluate each pupil’s performance
and growth in knowledge and
aesthetic understandings, and
prepare progress reports

Select and requisitions books,
instructional materials, tools,
instructional aids, and maintains
required inventory records

Plan
and present art displays and
exhibitions designed to exhibit
pupils’ work for the school and the
community

May
sponsor exhibits from outside the
school

Maintain professional competence
through in-service education
activities provided by the school
and/or in self-selected professional
growth activities

Maintain an auditable record of
pupil attendance and make daily
reports of pupils absent each period

Assign citizenship and scholarship
marks

Communicate with parents and school
counselors on pupil progress

Participate in curriculum and other
developmental programs within the
school

Perform any other duties as may be
assigned by Administration.
