The 5th Grade Science Teacher will be responsible for the development and implementation of a standards-based, rigorous 5th grade Science curriculum that will be delivered to two classes of 5th grade students. In addition, he/she will develop the scope and vision of the 5th-8th grade Science curriculum that describes content and processes. The Science teacher will actively participate in ongoing professional development by collaborating with peers and receiving individual support from the Principal.

The 5th Grade Science Teacher will perform all or some of the following Job description:

• Create and implement rigorous, standards-based, objective driven lessons and assessments

• Analyze data on student performance to effectively and adapt curriculum

• Provide differentiated support including accommodations and modifications to ensure all students are able to meet and exceed standards

• Participate in on-going professional development

• Frame the scope and vision of the 5-8th grade Science curriculum – including content and processes

• Enforce school-wide systems and procedures to effectively manage the classroom

• Continually communicate with students and families regarding academic and behavior performance and progress

• Serve as a homeroom teacher and student advisor

• Serve as a productive member of the Excel Community.
