Example: Teacher Job Description
The
Teacher will perform all or some of the
following Job description:
The
Teacher will be responsible for helping
students learn subject matter and skills
that will contribute to their
development as mature, knowledgeable,
and responsible men and women.
He/She
will meet and instruct assigned students
in the locations and at the time
designated; plan a program of study
that, as much as possible, meet the
individual needs, interests, and
abilities of the students; create a
classroom environment that is conducive
to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
The
Teacher will prepare for classes
assigned, and show written evidence of
preparation upon request of immediate
supervisor; encourage students to set
and maintain high standards of classroom
behavior and achievement; guide the
learning process toward the achievement
of curriculum standards and establish
clear objectives which reflect these
standards for all lessons, units, and
projects.
He/She
will employ a variety of instructional
techniques and instructional media
Implement the district's mission,
philosophy of education and
instructional standards and objectives;
assess and document the accomplishments
of students on a regular basis and
provide progress reports as required;
document the learning problems of
students and seek the assistance of
district specialists as required.
The
Teacher will take all necessary and
reasonable precautions to protect
students, equipment, materials, and
facilities; maintain accurate, complete,
and correct records as required by law,
district policy, and administrative
regulation.
He/She
will assist the administration in
implementing all policies and rules
governing student life and conduct and,
for the classroom, develop reasonable
rules of classroom behavior and
procedure, maintaining order in the
classroom in a fair and just manner.
He/She
will make provision for being available
to students and parents for
education-related purposes outside the
instructional day when required or
requested to do so under reasonable
terms; plan and supervise purposeful
assignments for teacher aide(s) and
volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with
supervisors, assess their job
performance.
The
Teacher will strive to maintain and
improve professional competence
especially as relates to the specific
assignment and student grade and subject
area appropriateness; attend staff
meetings and serve on staff committees
as required; establish and maintain
cooperative relationships with others.
The
Teacher will establish and maintain open
lines of communication with students,
colleagues, and parents concerning both
the broad academic and behavioral
progress of assigned students; perform
such other related tasks and assumes
such other related responsibilities as
may from time to time be assigned by the
Principal and/or Program Manager as
appropriate.
