Senior Sales Engineer Job Description

 

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for building and cultivating relationships with Sales and Customers, as well as, interfacing with other Company subject matter experts to build the customer solution.

Job Description:

The Senior Sales Engineer will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Provide proactive leadership, ownership and taking responsibility in the customer / account team environment for discussions on technical solutions proposed by Company in a manner that gains credibility with its clients

  • Work closely with account managers and sales teams to develop effective working relationships and understand sales strategy and approach to accounts and opportunities

  • Take ownership and responsibility for technical activities in assigned accounts and lead in defining the "technical" sales strategy for complex opportunities

  • Deliver quality network designs and technical presentations to customers

  • Constantly demonstrate where the knowledge and technical specialization of the Sales Engineering function is a key value add and differentiator for the customer and GWM

  • Develop a strong track record of delivering technical solutions that are truly innovative or that demonstrate" flair" in meeting customers needs, while remaining deliverable and achievable against Company's GWM product catalog and capabilities

  • Communicate effectively with other "virtual team" members (Overlay Sales Teams, Complex Solutions & Opportunity Management, CNE, O&T, VSO, Customer Services, and Billing) to ensure collaboration on solutions and swift resolution of problems

  • Maximize "customer facing" time through good personal organization, task prioritization and a passion to help customers succeed

  • Provide technical input to the production of RFI's and RFP's by producing network / solution diagrams and any required technical oriented descriptions that demonstrate how a customer's needs and strategy are met

  • Provide accurate account information/reports to SE / Sales management on a regular basis as per the agreed function reporting process

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the communications industry and Company GWM business systems, procedures, networks, products and services to enable effective customer communications around emerging technologies and communication strategies

  • Assist in the development of the SE organization and Sales teams through sharing specialist skills and knowledge via training and coaching as required.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Senior Sales Engineer Job

  • Knowledge of competitors' product portfolio
  • Understand the features and benefits of voice products
  • PSTN, ISDN, PBX, Infrastructure, Signaling
  • VOIP / IP Centrex
  • Mobile
  • Unified Communications
  • Knowledge of Local and Wide Area networking concepts, configurations, systems and protocols
  • Knowledge of older communication systems Frame, ATM, VPN, OSI model
  • In-depth knowledge of Ethernet, MPLS networking and IP routing
  • Good knowledge of country access technologies
  • Firewall systems and network security
  • Knowledge of Cloud and Hosting concepts
  • High-energy individual with a positive attitude, good teamwork skills and strong customer presentation experience
  • 6+ years in the telecommunications, information technology, and/or systems integration industries
  • 4+ year's previous sales engineering or technical sales consultant experience.
Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Senior Sales Engineer Job
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related degree
  • Cisco or other recognized vendor accreditation / certification.
