Job Summary:
The
Registration Receptionist - Hospital,
Under the direction of the Patient
Access Director, will be responsible for
registering and processing patients to
the hospital and emergency department.
He/she will greet, assist and direct
visitors, patients and other callers.
He/she will operate the hospital
switchboard, providing routine
information and route calls
appropriately.
Job
Description:
The
Registration Receptionist - Hospital will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Greet
patients and conduct interviews to
obtain accurate registration and billing
information
-
Assure
correct patient is registered using
tools available to verify information
and follows hospital policy on patient
identification when placing armband
-
Accurately key patient information into
on-line ADT system, updating information
when appropriate
-
Meet and
maintain the department accuracy
benchmark within three months of
employment
-
Assure
that all necessary forms are explained,
completed and signatures obtained
-
Prepare
and distribute registration documents to
appropriate departments
-
Collect
co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance
from patients when applicable
-
Enter
collection information into Collections
database
-
Strive to
meet monthly collection goals set by
Director
-
Use of
computer programs, Meditech, Internet (OIG
website) and insurance eligibility Word,
and Healthstream
-
Operate
office machines; copier, fax, shredder,
10-key
-
Operate
hospital switchboard and keep current on
alarm procedures
-
Respond
to emergency calls, following
established protocols
-
Use
paging system as necessary
-
Cross
train for positions within department
-
Ensure
patient satisfaction is maintained by
providing exemplary customer service to
patients and visitors
-
Provide
information to customers
-
Attend
in-services and meetings as required
-
Participate in self-development programs
both internally and externally
-
Assist in
maintaining office supplies and care of
equipment
-
Adhere to
hospital and department polices and
procedures
-
Perform
other duties as assigned as needed.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill

Knowledge of medical terminology
preferred

Prior
hospital experience preferred

Keyboard/computer familiarity
