Job Summary:
The
Admitting Clerk - Receptionist will
be responsible for the courteous and
prompt processing of patients at the
waiting area. The Admitting Clerk
-Receptionist will be responsible for
answering all incoming telephone calls
and directing the calls to the
appropriate personnel. The Admitting
Clerk - Receptionist will be
cross-trained in other areas of the
business office.

The
Admitting Clerk - Receptionist will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Responsible for the courteous and
prompt admission of patients
-
Verify the accuracy and completeness
of patient clinical, demographic,
and insurance information upon
admission of the patient. Corrected
patient information will be entered
into the medical software system at
the time of admission
-
Immediately communicate any patient
and/or surgeon delays to the Nurse
Manager and other RNs
-
Inform the Scheduler of
cancellations and/or add-on cases
-
Inform the Business Office Manager
and the Nurse Managers of any
cancelled and/or altered procedures
-
Request the patient or legal
guardian to read the prominently
posted Patient’s Bill of Rights
-
Responsible for protecting patient
confidentiality and dignity by
keeping patient charts in an
inconspicuous location at the front
desk
-
Responsible for maintaining an
orderly system for storing patient
charts at the front desk
-
Responsible for running all
registration forms and patient
identification tags, and prepare all
patient charts for next day cases
-
Responsible for ensuring the
completeness and accuracy of
information in the medical chart
prior to the admission
-
Responsible for compiling unsigned
transcribed dictation to obtain
physician signatures
-
Responsible for the daily recording
and reconciling of all front
desk/time of service collections
-
Responsible for the security and
reconciliation of the change drawer
-
Responsible for maintaining a
presence at the front desk at all
times with the exception of lunches
and breaks
-
Responsible for retrieving and
forwarding general mailbox messages
to the appropriate personnel
-
Responsible for the general
management of the telephone system.
That is, deactivating after-hours
answering service/night ring;
activating after-hours answering
service/night ring; and, ensuring
the after-hours/emergency message is
correct and activated
-
Responsible for the daily management
of the medical records
-
Perform other clerical duties as
directed by the Business Office
Manager.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill

Computer literacy

One
year receptionist experience in an
ambulatory surgery facility,
acute-care hospital or doctor’s
office
-
Attendance
-
Punctuality
-
Ability to meet deadlines.
Minimum Education Requirements /

High school graduate or GED
equivalent.
