The Radiology Transporter will pick up and return patients to proper location at scheduled time and in a safe and efficient manner

The Radiology Transporter will check patient I.D. bracelet to be sure of correct patient

Fill and utilize portable oxygen tanks as needed for patients being transported

The Radiology Transporter will determine whether additional help is needed to get the patient ready for transport

Provide/obtain sufficient help/devices when transferring patients onto carts or into wheelchairs. Use correct body mechanics and transfer techniques

Use lifts for large patients or those with special conditions

Reinforce proper transfer techniques with patients

The Radiology Transporter will checks IVs, catheters and other attachments when preparing patients for transport and while transporting

The Radiology Transporter will report pertinent information to nurse or therapist regarding unusual patient behavior

Comply with isolation techniques and blood and body fluid precautions

Adapt transportation techniques to comply with a variety of patient conditions

Attend JCAHO required seminars annually

The Radiology Transporter will respond appropriately and calmly in an emergency

The Radiology Transporter will sign patients in and out on nursing unit and Radiology log sheets as patients are transported to and from the Radiology Department

Inform appropriate personnel on nursing unit of patient and chart leaving and returning to nursing unit

Use protective apron and adhere to safe practices in radiation areas

Remake carts with new sheets after each use

The Radiology Transporter will deep clean wheelchairs and carts once a day. Clean off wheelchairs and carts after each use with disinfectant cloth

Notify supervisor of linen shortages and unsafe equipment
