Job Summary:
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist will be
responsible for performing diagnostic
and therapeutic quality imaging
procedures for the care of the patient
population the Organization serve and
participate as a member of the
multi-disciplinary team. Job
Description:
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
will cooperate with Interventional
Radiologists, nurses, anesthesia
personnel and all staff members to
ensure a safe outcome for the patient
-
Perform
after hours call including availability
to answer questions regarding service
-
He/She
will operate technical imaging equipment
related to patient care imaging, image
processing, image transmission archiving
and computerized Radiology Information
System as required of the IR
Technologist
-
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
will perform imaging procedures using
standardized protocols, producing the
highest quality diagnostic scans for
interpretation by the Radiologists
-
Assist
physicians, as required, with IR
procedures to include the administration
of contrast media, procedure/room
set-up, and assist with
biopsies/drainages and other procedures
per the physician's request

The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
will maintain ongoing quality assurance
in the IR area and will be responsible
for daily maintenance of the procedure
room

Attend
all required system and departmental
education opportunities
-
Perform
supply management: order, stock, remove
expired goods, new product registration
-
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
will perform billing of supplies and
charge reconciliation
-
Coordinate cases from order to discharge
including: order transcription,
insurance verification and precepts,
coordination of anesthesia, day surgery
scheduling, IR physician scheduling,
patient/family contact and education,
collection of specimens for
lab/pathology.

Skill For Interventional Radiology
Technologist Job
-
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
should possess knowledge of IR
procedures to include anatomy,
physiology and purpose
-
Ability
to perform multiple imaging procedures
in more than one of the following
imaging areas: Routine Radiography,
Portable Radiography, C-Arm and
Fluoroscopy
-
Knowledge
of aseptic technique and sterile
procedure
-
The
Interventional Radiology Technologist
should demonstrate accuracy in supplying
information in the patient electronic
medical record including procedure
ordering and labeling
-
Possess three years of diagnostic
radiology experience
-
Possess interventional radiology or
other invasive experience preferred
-
Pediatric experience preferred.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Interventional Radiology Technologist Job
-
Registered by the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
-
CIR
or VIR certification preferred.
Completion of such certification is
required within 2 years of hire
-
BLS
certification.
