Job
Description:
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist will
perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
review incoming patient images
to assure technical image quality
and completeness of study prior to
radiologist interpretation
Coordinate and consult with
physicians, nurses and other
medical/radiology personnel on
digital image acquisition
techniques, scan protocols, post
processing and 3D reformatting of
patient exams
He/She will provide in-depth
clinical input concerning imaging
procedures and radiology workflow to
peer group
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
will resolve technical
problems with the PACS within one's
sphere of responsibility to ensure
continuity of operations
Ensure all
requests for STAT or ASAP reads from
referring facility are brought to
the attention of the Radiologist,
ensuring timely interpretation and
communication of critical findings
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
will develop and maintain formal training
manuals and programs for incoming
support personnel
He/She will
serve as an expert regarding the
software and hardware capability and
performance of clinical digital image
acquisition systems
Serve as a liaison
between the organization and personnel
internal/external to the organization.

Technologist Job
-
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
should have proficiency in spoken and written
English in accordance with (IAW) VA
Handbook 5005/15 Part II Chapter 2,
Section D, Paragraph
-
He/She
should have experience in
managing the incoming patient workload
for immediate professional
interpretation by Teleradiologists,
thoroughly checking all completed
studies to assure technical image
quality and completeness of the study
prior to radiologist interpretation
-
He/She
must possess the ability to balance the
needs of the patients and staff while
still performing complex scans and
procedures
-
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
should possess the skill to demonstrate
appropriate techniques to gather
relevant information from the medical
record, significant others, and health
care providers
-
Possess the ability to assess factors
that may contraindicate the procedure
-
Possess knowledge of basic first aid
and basic life support practices related
to radiography
-
The
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
should possess knowledge of physical
assessment, aseptic techniques,
intravenous skills, and universal
precautions
-
He/She
should possess knowledge in pre-procedural,
procedural, and post-procedural care of
patients.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For Diagnostic
Radiologic Technologist Job
-
Certification in general radiologic
technology by the American Registry of
Radiologic Technology (ARRT)(R)
-
Completion of a full-time training
course of at least 24 months duration
(or the equivalent) in a post-high
school diagnostic radiologic technology
program, evidenced by a certificate or
an associate's degree, accredited by the
Joint Review Committee on Education in
Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
