Medical Office Representative Job Description

 

 

 

Job Description:

The Medical Office Representative will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • The Medical Office Representative will complete patient check-in and checkout procedures per policy guidelines, including greeting patients, managing wait times, providing information services (i.e. directions, etc.)

  • He/She will receive/initiate multi line telephone calls accurately and politely

  • Organize and prepare medical charts

  • The Medical Office Representative will enter billing information into computer and audit against other paperwork to ensure accuracy

  • File client records and other general material

  • The Medical Office Representative will record client information for referral to clinical staff/other community resources

  • Operate other office equipment including photocopier, calculator and fax machine

  • The Medical Office Representative will compile, type and print data for various reports.            

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Medical Office Representative Job

  • The Medical Office Representative should have one year clerical experience, prior medical office experience preferred, excellent customer service, basic knowledge of general mental health issues, basic knowledge of community resources
  • He/She should have excellent communication skills - speaking, listening; word processing skills/typing accurately at 60 words per minute
  • The Medical Office Representative should possess computer data entry proficiency
  • Telephone reception skills (heavy phone usage)
  • Possess diversified clerical skills, valid driver’s license and ability to drive in local area
  • Good manual dexterity; visual and auditory acuity; physical mobility, ability to walk, stand, stoop, and lift; ability to sit for long periods of time
  • The Medical Office Representative should have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff, clients and outside agencies
  • He/She should be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with accuracy and according to policies
  • The Medical Office Representative should have the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments; follow instructions and conform with established procedures
  • He/She should be able to work independently, exercising good judgment and discretion
  • The Medical Office Representative must be able to use proper grammar, calculate figures and spell accurately.      

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Medical Office Representative Job

  • High School Diploma.
