The
Medical Coder - Outpatient will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
The
Medical Coder - Outpatient will
assign codes and sequence all
diagnoses and procedures performed
for outpatient ancillary testing,
medications, laboratory, other
services, and emergency department
cases utilizing the Shared Medical
Systems (SMS) and 3M ICD-9/CPT
Codefinder software
Utilize WebCIS, SMS and other
software as appropriate to compile
and validate medical information.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Medical Coder - Outpatient Job
The
Medical Coder - Outpatient must be
competent in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding and
exhibit excellent medical terminology
knowledge
He/She
must have two years of coding
experience.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Medical Coder - Outpatient Job
High
school diploma and completion of a
12-month program in Medical Information
or related field or 12 months of
hospital coding experience
Successful completion of the Coder
Proficiency Test.
