Job Summary:
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery will be
responsible for providing excellent
customer service and assisting the
patient care team by providing
nursing/medical assistance. He/She will
provide operational assistance, ensuring
and coordinating the intake and rooming
of patients, effectively managing the
patient visit cycle time.Job

The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
will welcome the patient/family and
respond to questions
-
He/She
will inform patients, staff and
providers of delays; approach
dissatisfied customers and implement
customer service recovery measures
-
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
will collaborate with others to develop
quality service-focused measures to
identify clinic issues; track prolonged
wait times for patients and investigate
cause
He/She
will obtain translation services as
needed
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
will
observe
and enforce guidelines for infection
control; clean toys
Take and
record vital signs, height, weight,
allergy status, current immunizations,
medications (prescription, over the
counter and herbal), past procedures,
pain, chief complaint and point-of-care
testing
He/She
will
identify
and report abnormal vital signs; use the
clinic's patient tracking system to
notify and update staff of patient's
location, time placed in room, and time
appointment scheduled
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
will
transport
patient specimens or utilize the P-tube
for transport
He/She
will
inspect
and oversee equipment readiness,
corrective action and follow-up (daily
calibrations, point-of-care testing
quality control/check, equipment
temperature checks and equipment
preventative maintenance schedule)
Document
telephone or refill messages and notify
provider to take action
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
will
assist in
the exam room with procedures and
paperwork
He/She
will
assist in
patient flow and scheduling for the
clinic.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Medical Assistant Orthopedic
Surgery Job

The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
should possess knowledge of development
stages in pediatric patients,
nursing/medical assistant patient care
tasks, the managed care industry,
related medical terminology, customer
service concepts and basic
clinic/patient care
-
He/She
must have the ability to: operate a
personal computer and office equipment
-
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
must
demonstrate interpersonal skills, good
verbal communication skills, good time
management skills and provide excellent
customer service skills
-
He/She
must be able to make
quick
decision and possess self-initiated work
behaviors

One (1) year related experience
preferred
-
The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
should have
experience in a healthcare setting or
customer service focused industry
preferred

Outpatient clinic operations experience
preferred.

The
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
should be
Bilingual
in Spanish/English preferred.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Medical Assistant Orthopedic Surgery Job

High
school diploma or equivalent
-
Completion of a Medical Assistant
program or related experience

Completion of certification
encouraged within a year of hire.
