The
Coder - Medical Records will be
responsible for reviewing and collecting data from patients’
charts from the computer or from medical
records or the nursing unit.
Job
Description:
The
Coder - Medical Records will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
The
Coder - Medical Records will check for data that appears inaccurate,
ambiguous, incomplete, or missing
Verify the signatures of physicians in
the charts to ensure the correct
physicians are billed or credited for
the patient’s treatment
Reconcile all information in the
physical chart with what is stored in
the computer profile
The
Coder - Medical Records will assign ICD-9 codes to the events of the
patient’s stay
Adhere to facility policies/guidelines
(Dress code, attendance, etc)
The
Coder - Medical Records will display positive attitude in all
interactions with the facility staff,
physicians, and co-workers
Follow security and confidentiality
guidelines
The
Coder - Medical Records will maintain a clean, orderly work area
He/She will
perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Coder - Medical Records Job
The
Coder - Medical Records should
have good computer skills
He/She should be able to perform
ICD-9 coding
Possess knowledge of
medical and psych terminology.
