Job Summary:
The
Biomedical Technician will be
responsible for performing incoming
inspections, basic equipment repairs,
equipment calibration, and preventive
maintenance on a variety of clinical
devices as defined by equipment involved
in the treatment, care, diagnosis, and
monitoring of patients. This will be
accomplished through the effective use
of the Medical Equipment Management Plan
along with Department and Facility
Policies and Procedures. Job

He/She
will perform corrective maintenance
The
Biomedical Technician will provide
clinical
support
He/She
will perform
technical
projects and other duties.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Biomedical Technician Job

The
Biomedical Technician should have
apprenticeship or other hospital
experience
-
He/She should have
good
communication skills to be able to
interact with both patients and
equipment users (clinical staff)

The
Biomedical Technician must have the
ability
to effectively use a computer to
document work efforts
-
Ability
to use electronic test equipment to
troubleshoot and repair medical
equipment to the board level
-
He/She
should be able to
work
under the stressful environment created
when clinical equipment users
(physicians, nurses) mandate that their
equipment be repaired in minimal time
frames
-
The
Biomedical Technician must have the
ability
to work with extremely high voltage and
with complex electronics circuitry
-
He/She
should have
exposure
to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids
and air borne contaminants possible
-
The
Biomedical Technician must be able to
assume
responsibility for on-call pager
response and to report to work as
assigned at multiple Advocate
facilities.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Biomedical Technician Job

Associate's degree (or equivalent
training) in electronics, computer
or biomedical equipment technology.
