Director Marketing Strategy & Planning Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Director Marketing Strategy & Planning will be responsible for helping to manage and grow target consumer segments profitably. He/she will leverage consumer segment insights to become the expert in target needs/behaviors, develop segment specific value propositions, and translate them into integrated marketing initiatives that achieve the company’s financial objectives.

The Director Marketing Strategy & Planning will lead efforts to create annual marketing plans; drive improved planning into the organization, and implement measurement/results tracking processes. He/she will work closely with a wide range of internal partners, including Field Marketing teams, Corporate Marketing Communications, Product Development and Strategy, Sales Leads, Pricing team, Channel Marketing, and Customer Experience to ensure appropriate programs designs and delivery to market.

In addition, the Director Marketing Strategy & Planning will partner extensively with other parts of the Marketing Strategy and Intelligence team on research projects and analyses to test effectiveness of potential initiatives.

Job Description:

The Director Marketing Strategy & Planning will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Lead the development of strategic marketing plans that address long term profitable growth

  • Work closely with marketing communications and regional teams to support the execution of marketing programs, inform campaigns and communications materials to effectively meet growth objectives

  • Conduct in-depth analyses to determine strategic and growth opportunities for Company target segments – including determine market potential, business case development, and estimations of financial implications

  • Synthesize and present key results to senior marketing, product, technology and strategy teams for review and consideration in development of new programs/propositions/products, etc.

  • Develop and maintain relevant performance metrics (size, growth, migration, etc)

  • Work as an individual contributor to drive projects cross functionally

  • Manage external partner teams to ensure successful the delivery of marketing plans and strategies.  

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Director Marketing Strategy & Planning Job

  • Demonstrated history with customer segmentation, developing market strategies and integrating programs across multiple functions
  • Strong strategic and analytical market thinking, ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence constituencies across the organization
  • Experience in writing marketing plans and conducting marketing/brand strategy for best in class consumer facing organizations
  • Direct experience of leveraging marketing intelligence to develop strategy
  • Strong quantitative skills, ability to conduct financial ROI analysis and develop/execute analytic models
  • 10 years of business related experience
  • 7 years experience in a consumer marketing-driven organization where role was strategy consulting, product or brand management and/or strategic planning for a marketing agency
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities to drive results with a win/win attitude
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically and envision the big picture
  • Ability to lead and partner with others for “best case” decision making
  • Excited, positive attitude with a passion for learning/doing.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Director Marketing Strategy & Planning Job

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Management, Communications or equivalent plus MBA.
