Job Summary:
The
Insurance Manager, under the direction
of the Senior Vice President and Chief
Risk Officer (CRO),
will be responsible for the day to day
management and operation of Company’s
Insurance Agency and Company’s
commercial and captive insurance
programs to include workers’
compensation, professional liability,
general liability, business automobile
liability, D&O liability, aviation,
fiduciary, fidelity and property. Job
Description:
The
Insurance Manager will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Understand and manage all elements of
insurance products, process and coverage
in the commercial and captive insurance
arenas
-
Complete
applications for insurance and
self-insurance/reinsurance for Meridian
Health System, its entities, physicians
and team members
-
Maintain
complete and accurate files of current
and historic policy information to
include applications; claims
information, appropriate exposure
information for all lines of coverage
for ten (10) years
-
Create a
complete listing of physicians and
entities insured commercially or
self-insured through the captive and
update these listings monthly to
maintain their accuracy
-
Maintain
loss runs for lines of coverage provided
by commercial insurers and the captive
-
Complete
an annual reconciliation and analysis of
exposures and losses for all lines of
coverage for management reporting and
allocation purposes
-
Maintain
an understanding of exposures to risk
for all commercial and self-insured
risks and monitor trends or changes in
those risks and the industry
-
Assist
the CRO in analyzing the underlying risk
associated with corporate operations,
joint ventures or contracts and
recommend proper levels of insurance to
cover those risks or other risk
management strategies
-
Create
and maintain a system for requesting,
issuing, monitoring and filing of
Certificates of Insurance

Coordinate the meetings, agenda and
prepare minutes for Company’s
Litigations and Insurance Risk
Management Committee
-
Assist
the CRO in preparing management reports,
creating and implementing new programs,
products and services to lower the cost
of risk
-
Design,
implement and maintain procedures in
support of all Company related insurance
programs including captive programs
-
Manage
relationships with Company’s insurance
service providers and maintain day to
day broker relationships
-
Coordinate all activities and meetings
related to commercial insurance or
reinsurance.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For Insurance Manager Job

3-5 years
experience in managing insurance
programs
-
Captive
insurance company experience desirable
-
Healthcare experience desirable
-
Working
knowledge of insurance markets and
products
-
Basic
knowledge of enterprise risk management
concepts and loss control/claims
management practices
-
Exceptional analytical organization,
written, verbal and interpersonal skills
-
Self
starter, flexible, ability to multi-task
and handle responsibilities
-
Computer
proficiency.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Insurance Manager Job
-
Bachelor Degree in Insurance and
Risk Management or related fields
preferred
-
Experience may substitute for
education
-
Certifications in Risk Management,
i.e. Certified Risk Manager,
chartered Property Casualty
Underwriter or similar
-
State
Producers License preferred.
