Job Summary:
The
eCommerce Content Manager, reporting to
the Senior Director of eCommerce Site
Merchandising, will ensure the
consistent execution of overall
eCommerce strategy. He/she will need to
critically evaluate current content
practices, technology, and
infrastructure and develop strategic
recommendations to drive continuous
improvement.
More
specifically, the Content Manager will
lead an initiative, collaborating with
IT and the Director of Product
Management, to optimize the use of
existing content systems and will work
to discover and evaluate potential
technology solutions to optimize content
collection and upload.
He/she
partners with the Product Management
team to optimize business processes and
develop training to ensure website
content is designed to maximize return
on SEO investment. He/she will manage
vendor compliance (e.g., quality and
availability of content) and, when
necessary, will develop solutions in
partnership with Site Merchandisers.
Finally,
he/she will ensure eCommerce content
upload concerns are addressed with the
company-wide Master Data Management
project.Job
Description:
The
eCommerce Content Manager will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Develop
and ensure execution of category
content strategies -
Develop strategies to optimize
content collection, creation, and
upload; including selection of best
content (e.g., copy, imagery, video)
and determine how to best present
online to drive traffic and
conversion -
Partner with Senior Site
Merchandiser and 4 to 6 Site
Merchandisers to ensure alignment of
content strategies with category
merchandising strategies -
With
input from Senior Site Merchandiser,
determine and prioritize intensity
and timing of content efforts within
and across categories based on
shifts in business priorities,
promotional calendar, etc. -
Manage and develop 12 Content
Coordinators -
Load-balance and adjust focus of
Content Coordinators in line with
category and seasonal demands (e.g.,
merchandising focus, promotions,
etc.) to maximize sales and margin
Managing the team -
Ensure vendor provision of
high-quality product content -
Manage vendor compliance of Company
website content guidelines by
communicating expectations,
enforcing standards and potentially
assessing penalties (e.g.,
chargebacks) when content is missing
or substandard -
Collaborate with vendors to optimize
content and processes -
Develop solutions to critical vendor
issues with Site Merchandisers when
necessary -
Drive
improvements to content upload
efficiency and efficacy -
Direct PIM system solution
development (with execution support
from IT) and responsible for
creating and improving processes for
maximizing eCommerce benefits from
PIM -
Work
with Director of Product Management
to establish processes for
optimizing GSI’s Remote Tools system
and to evaluate potential technology
or third-party solutions for content
collection -
Collaborate with Product Management
team to ensure site is optimized for
SEO (e.g., developing Content
Coordinator training for writing
copy tailored to SEO).
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For eCommerce Content Manager Job

5-7
years: Management and development of
website content teams
-
Experience working with content
management systems to update website
-
Proficiency in Omniture and
Photoshop is a plus
-
Capable of managing multiple direct
reports across categories with
disparate seasonality trends,
product attributes, etc.
-
Excellent time management skills and
strong sense of urgency, with
ability to multi-task and work
autonomously
-
Ability to juggle requests and input
from many different sources while
establishing objective view on
prioritization.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For

Bachelor’s Degree: Business
Administration or Management
Information Systems.
