Commercial Banking Relationship Manager Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager will be primarily responsible for serving the needs of commercial customers, handling the largest and most profitable customer relationships within the department, with revenues typically in excess of $20MM.

He/She will be responsible for new business development, making and servicing commercial loans, and cross-selling other fee based services (treasury management, international, retirement services, etc.).

The Relationship Manager will make and service business and individual loans that involve significant amounts of both secured and unsecured funds, and/or credit secured, which are the most complex in nature. He/She will also provide subordinate officers with functional guidance. 

Job Description:

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Monitor and manage existing credit relationships which includes note renewals, reviewing and detailed analysis of current financial statements and collateral valuations, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, documenting exceptions and covenant monitoring; compiles reports necessary to monitor asset and credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation

  • Negotiate loan proposals; analyze and evaluate credit requests and write loan commitments; recommend appropriate credit grade; make oral presentation to loan committee; implement approval or declination action

  • Develop new business through identifying and calling on existing or prospective customers; promote and cross-sell bank services; work with bank operation areas to ensure that quality service is provided

  • Facilitate resolution of operational problems for customer across divisional lines

  • Serve as the primary link for all financial services to the individual client with the bank (i.e., Treasury Services, International, Trust and Cash Vault)

  • Research overdrafts and outgoing wire transfers and determine appropriate action; implement approval or denial action

  • Participate in community and professional activities in order to enhance the bank’s image and expand personal network of business contacts for development of new business

  • Represent the bank and other financial institutions to the customer in a shared credit relationship

  • Assist team members with complex account relationships and guide less-experienced members of the team in matters relating to credit policy and complex financial arrangements; serve as a resource to team loan officers in the areas of marketing, new business development and loan analysis and servicing.    

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Commercial Banking Relationship Manager Job

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial lending practices and loan documentation and loan servicing requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Demonstrated capacity to sell products/services within the financial services industry
  • Extensive understanding of credit underwriting, documentation, loan policy and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of financial analysis, including ratio and trend analysis and projections
  • Specialized knowledge of specific markets in order to serve defined territories
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations
  • Good PC skills, including knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Commercial Banking Relationship Manager Job

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ Years of experience in commercial lending.
