The
Maintenance Utility Worker will perform
and/or assist with minor repairs to
factory buildings, grounds and office
areas, including electrical, plumbing,
painting, carpentry, welding, mechanical
and millwright work as required to
complete the assigned work.

The
Maintenance Utility Worker will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will receive
work assignment from dispatch, plan of
the day (POD), shop coordinator,
maintenance service system (MSS), online
systems or other appropriate sources
(e.g., lead, supervisor, engineer)
He/She
will obtain and review drawings,
sketches, and verbal orders, needed to
accomplish job
Lockout,
tag out and tryout systems for safety
when working on or around machinery
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will
perform
air filter replacement on equipment
(e.g., air handlers, machine filters,
and laminar flow benches) as required
Use
personal protective equipment.
Setup/assist with assembly, disassembly,
and relocation of scaffolding for
construction projects
He/She
will
perform
and/or assist with replacement of
lighting bulbs, fixtures or hardware
(e.g., fluorescent, incandescent,
mercury vapor)
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will
perform
minor plumbing repair or replacement of
parts (e.g., faucets, p-traps, sinks)
Perform
and/or assist other crafts to rig, move
and set up equipment (e.g., lathes,
saws, drill presses) using overhead
cranes, jacks, rollers, and lag bolt to
previously prepared foundation
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will
disassemble equipment prior to moving,
as required
Perform
and/or assist with painting (e.g.,
preparation, touch up, parking lot
lines, I.D. blocks) per customer request
He/She
will
perform
and/or assist in the repair of holes in
walls, remove and install doors, change
hinges and locks, using hand tools,
powered tools and shop equipment (e.g.,
saws all, band saw, table saw, drill
press, hammer, screwdriver) per customer
request
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will
clean
area and equipment after job completion
Perform
and/or assist other crafts in the
layout, movement and installation,
assembly or disassembly of various
facilities (e.g., fences,
bull/guardrails, sign posts, metal and
wood walls), per customer request
The
Maintenance Utility Worker will
operate
mechanical lifts to access work area,
and/or stackers to move equipment
He/She
will
handle
and dispose hazardous waste in an
approved manner
Consult
with lead, supervisor and/or others
(e.g., engineers, customers, project
administrators) on job related issues.
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to effectively communicate verbal
information such as tie-ins and job
related information
He/She
should
effectively be able to communicate
written information such as tie-ins,
planning or engineering change requests
and reports
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to follow oral/written instructions
provided by the lead or supervisor
He/She
should have the
knowledge
of correct lifting and rigging
procedures such as the selection and
inspection of the appropriate slings,
cables or chains, to ensure proper
handling and distribution of weight when
using lifting devices or radio
controlled, overhead/mobile cranes
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should
possess
knowledge
of proper use, handling and disposal of
hazardous materials per government
regulations and Boeing procedures
Knowledge
of safe working practices, emergency
procedures and possible dangerous
situations
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should have
the ability to
make
basic layouts in order to install/repair
walls, doors, fixtures, fences, factory
equipment, or other building, grounds or
office facilities
He/She
should have
mechanical ability, manual dexterity,
and hand/eye coordination required to
perform various projects, per
engineering definition and verbal or
written instructions
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to
operate
computing equipment to access job
information (e.g., drawings,
specifications and other online
information systems)
Operate
man aboard electric stackers in a safe
manner
Operate
mechanical lifts of various types (e.g.,
scissor lifts, elevated work platforms)
in a safe manner
The
Maintenance Utility Worker
should
have the ability to operate overhead
cranes in a safe manner
Ability
to operate various types of jacks to
lift heavy machinery in a safe manner
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to
read and
interpret structural and/or
architectural drawings. Capable of
visualizing a three-dimensional shape
from a two-dimensional view and
understanding symbols, flag notes and
general notes
Skilled
in the selection, set-up and operation
of the appropriate tool(s) for a given
type of work
Ability
to
think
before acting (e.g., anticipate outcome
of an action, know if something looks
wrong) and ask questions when necessary
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to
use basic
math that includes addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division
Ability
to use various types of hand tools
and/or hand-held power tools
The
Maintenance Utility Worker should have
the ability to
use
various types of precision measuring
tools
Ability
to
work with
others as part of a team which includes
giving and receiving feedback, assisting
others in completion of tasks; possess
interpersonal, listening, and

Maintenance Utility Worker should be
able to
use
various types of floor-mounted power
tools (e.g. bandsaw, grinder, drill
