The
Building Maintenance Worker will
be responsible for performing
maintenance and mechanical duties for
assigned buildings and related
facilities, furnishings, and equipment;
ensure that equipment is operating
properly. He/She will troubleshoot breakdowns;
perform preventive maintenance and when
necessary, call for repairs.
Under
general supervision, the Building
Maintenance Worker will perform a wide
variety of skilled and semi-skilled
building maintenance and repair tasks;
and perform related duties as required.

Building Maintenance Worker will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
Perform electrical repairs such as
replacing switches and wiring; repair
refrigeration equipment; repair
faucets, sewer, plumbing, boiler room
equipment, pump, check valves, boiler
lines, heating and ventilating systems
Paint building interiors and
exteriors, furniture, cement, and other
materials and items
Estimate materials, labor, and time
needed for projects
Participate in meetings to provide
recommendations to improve service and
operations
Prepare estimates of time,
materials, and labor; work from plans
and specifications; work with limited
supervision; follow oral and written
instructions
Form and maintain
effective working relationships with
others
Provide supervision, training,
and assistance to others as required
Maintain knowledge of materials,
tools, methods, and equipment used in a
building trade, such as carpentry,
plumbing, painting, masonry, cement
work, and electrical work; repair
methods and maintenance practices for
structures, furnishings, and equipment;
work safety practices
Perform painting, carpentry, plumbing,
electrical, masonry, cement work,
heating, welding, roofing, and related
work
Repair structures; build and
install cabinets, partitions,
blackboards, and shelves
Repair
furniture and equipment; install floor
coverings, acoustical ceilings, and
window glass
Repair roofs, floors,
doors, locks, and related items.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For Building Maintenance Worker Job
Six (6) months previous
safety management and equipment
maintenance experience
Six (6) months experience
in a building trade such as
carpentry, painting, masonry,
electrical; or, a combination of
training, education, and experience
that is equivalent to the employment
standard listed above and that
provides the required knowledge and
abilities
Ability to work a flexible
schedule that meets the business
needs, including evenings and
weekends
Ability to prepare estimates of time,
materials, and labor; work from plans
and specifications
Ability to work with limited
supervision; follow oral and written
instructions.
