Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for leading analysis of engineering designs and design changes to determine maintenance/repair requirements, procedures and instructions; providing approval authority.

Job Description:

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will initiate and guide activities to influence product designs and processes to ensure supportability and maintainability

  • He/She will guide activities related to the use of fault isolation procedures/techniques and development of systems theory descriptions

  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will guide analyses to verify the accuracy of complex maintenance/repair data

  • Develop and provide technical solutions to customers; lead on-site assessment of customers'' maintenance operations and develop improvements

  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will guide the development of complex procedures and techniques to allow users to maintain and repair products

  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will develop and influence industry regulations and standards

  • Accomplish the full range of Systems Support Analysis for B-1B Modifications and Upgrades. 

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Job

  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer should understand Logistics Support Analysis
  • He/She should fully understand changes in own and fellow senior employees' work and situations, and should be prepared to be frequently called upon to explain the logic or basis for change to other employees
  • He/She should be generally seen as an expert on information about changes affecting own and fellow senior employees' jobs
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer should occasionally mentor fellow employees around the change
  • Treat changes and new situations as opportunities for learning or growth
  • Focus on the beneficial aspects of change; speak positively about the change to fellow senior employees and external customers
  • He/She should be able to quickly modify behavior to deal effectively with changes in the work environment; readily try new approaches appropriate for new or changed situations
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer should have great communication skill, and be able to consistently clarify purpose and importance
  • He/She should be able to correctly interpret messages and respond appropriately; advise fellow project leads and other internal employees in effective communication techniques
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer should be able to initiate and take action
  • Possess strong planning and organization skills
  • He/She should be able to interpret engineering data
  • Possess extensive and specialized knowledge of customer aircraft maintenance processes, policies, culture, and standard practices (e.g., return to service, normal duties/responsibilities, time constraints, available resources) in order to effectively represent the customer within the Company
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer should have extensive and specialized knowledge of one or more products (e.g., Airframe, Component, Power plant, Structure).

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Job

  • Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
