Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant will be responsible for leading a team of HR professionals to partner with Organization and its managers, divisional leaders and employees to develop and facilitate best practices in human resources, which enable departments to hire, motivate, reward and retain quality staff.

Job Description:

The Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Support and guide the change in workgroups as a partner in strategic planning and organizational development transitions

  • As central point of contact, facilitates the human resources needs around the entire employment cycle including hiring, management, training, compensation, and benefits

  • Counsel employees throughout the cycle of employment (onboarding, professional development, changes in position, etc.)

  • Serve as a primary resource for managers in developing and maintaining a positive and rewarding work experience for employees

  • Provide regular and exception work group data analysis along with options and recommendations for methods of improvement

  • Provide information on institutional, regional and national best practices in human resources and balances institutional and divisional priorities with work group priorities

  • Provide initial coaching and direction in employee relations issues, grievances and conflicts with managers and employees

  • Recommend best practice, interpret policy, apply procedures and offer services in response to identified trends and patterns

  • Maintain close coordination with the Central Employee Relations team

  • Work closely with both customer groups and HR Central Service teams to understand business strategy and prioritize and address human resource needs and issues

  • Coordinate with HR Central Service teams and other Service Delivery teams to share HR practices, tools and information to ensure a level of consistency across the institution

  • Discovers new ways for HR to support customer groups and the institution, with a focus on business strategy

  • Supervise HR Consultants on HR best practices, employee relations issues, policy and procedure, compensation reviews, trending in customer groups and successful partnership with customer groups

  • Provide daily leadership for the recruiters supporting the customer group

  • Contribute to institutional consistency by communicating with the Central Employee Relations team and the other Service Delivery Teams

  • Update HR leadership on trends in customer group and recommend solutions where needed

  • Maintain routine in-person communication with senior leadership of customer group.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant Job

  • Eight years of human resources or related professional generalist experience including employee relations consulting, recruitment, organizational development, basics of compensation and benefits
  • Exposure to employment and labor law is essential
  • Five years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and decision making abilities based on a mix of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment
  • Proficiency in consulting, coaching and influencing managers on workforce management and HR programs
  • Coaching and mentoring in a supervisory role
  • Functional expertise in organizational development, employee relations, benefits, compensation and recruitment
  • Effective team member on collaborative projects
  • Strategic thinking and ability to see the “bigger picture”
  • Innovation in finding creative new solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy or to resolve an issue
  • Commitment to diversity and serving the needs of a diverse community.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant Job

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field
  • Graduate degree in law, business or related field
  • PHR or SPHR certification.
