Director Human Resources Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Director Human Resources, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources (HR), will partner with Corporate functional managers, providing HR leadership in support of organizational goals and objectives.

He/She will be responsible for managing multiple aspects of human resources for assigned client groups including change management, performance and compensation management, talent acquisition and development, employee relations, associate engagement, organizational design and restructuring. The Director will also partner with SVP HR and business leaders on merger and acquisition due diligence and integration.

Job Description:

The Director Human Resources will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Provide leadership and partner with management to drive processes in support of the associate and leader life cycle. These include change management, performance and compensation management, talent acquisition and development, employee relations, associate engagement, organizational design and restructuring

  • Monitor/assess the effectiveness of human resources programs and processes, using metrics to evaluate progress, and taking actions as appropriate to achieve improvement

  • Drive the Performance Management and Compensation Review processes for client groups, ensuring consistency and appropriate rigor for talent calibration and succession planning

  • Partner with client group leaders on the Talent Review process, and the creation of development plans for leaders and associates within the group

  • Provide hands on management of associate issues relating to performance and other matters

  • Direct, execute or coordinate with client managers, on the proper handling of employee relations issues, disciplinary actions and resolution of associate complaints in an effort to provide fair and consistent treatment

  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws for employment practices and policies, salary and wage administration, safety and environmental compliance and required training

  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of Human Resources programs and initiatives in support of organizational priorities

  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation

  • Manage large-scale projects for client groups, such as performance review process, compensation/merit review cycle, associate engagement survey, and organizational restructuring

  • Assist with merger and acquisition due diligence and integration

  • Implement associate recognition programs.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Director Human Resources Job

  • 10 years of progressive human resources generalist experience
  • Experience in both corporate and field roles is desirable
  • Merger & Acquisition experience strongly preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience managing an HR team
  • Strong business acumen, customer focus and team orientation
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the technical areas of Human Resources
  • Track record of delivering high quality results
  • Sound judgment, ability to balance business needs with the role of employee advocate
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work independently
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and interact with all levels in the organization
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel periodically.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Director Human Resources Job

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • MBA, Masters in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • SPHR/PHR certification preferred.
