Example 1: Construction Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Construction Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of unique structures, and systems.

He/She will participate in the conceptual development projects and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation. The Construction Manager must be familiar working with non-standard standard building materials.

Job Description:

The Construction Manager will perform all or some of the following job description:

  • The Construction Manager will confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Construction Manager Job

  • He/She should be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • He/She should have the ability to monitor/assess performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

  • The Construction Manager should have the ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively

  • The Construction Manager should be able to manage one's own time and the time of others

  • The Construction Manager should have 5-10 years experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree with more than 4 years job experience.

Example 2: Construction Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

The Construction Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and planning construction projects. He/She may supervise construction projects, oversee quality of construction project, develop required documentation, and oversee the work of subcontractors.

The Construction Engineer will monitor activities at sites and engineering projects. He/She will work to ensure project progresses as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to.

He/She will inspect site daily and work with contractors to schedule deliveries.

Job Description:

The Construction Engineer will perform all or some of the following job description:

  • He/She will develop and lead the team to deliver results

  • Work with other managers to ensure common people resources have clear expectations and time availability

  • Identify gaps and recognize/provide resources to fill those gaps

  • The Construction Engineer will manage contractors in assigned areas to ensure they are brought into the project at the appropriate time to provide support

  • He/She will manage contractors in assigned areas to ensure compliance with Company safety standards and contracts

  • Develop cost estimate, monitor and control costs

  • Develop schedule estimate, monitor and control schedule

  • Develop KPIs with team

  • The Construction Engineer within overall execution strategy provide clear design basis, operating strategy, and scope

  • Manage the aspects of the project regarding change on the project

  • The Construction Engineer will ensure quality by looking for value: identify the drivers, push back as needed, and addressing the business needs as well as the project needs.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Construction Engineer Job

  • The Construction Engineer should have 0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • He/She must have strong design experience

  • He/She should have experience with managing multiple on-site projects.

Minimum Educational Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Construction Engineer Job

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Current PE registration.
