Senior Computer Technologist I Job Description

 

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Senior Computer Technologist I is responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance support for all DCGS-A, JIOC, HATS/CHIMS, and other classrooms within a DoD training facility. The Senior Computer Technologist, under direction of the team leader, will resolve software and hardware related problems; support entails, but is not limited to, software troubleshooting and repair of MS Windows XP, MS Office 2007, other DoD-specific client and web-based applications and hardware troubleshooting and repair of classroom assets such as computers, thin clients, overhead projectors, etc.

Job Description:

The Senior Computer Technologist I will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Assist with the planning and engineering of new classrooms and classroom upgrades, to include researching equipment and preparing BOM's/ROM's

  • Install and configure classroom hardware, to include computer systems, printers, and audio/visual equipment

  • Diagnose and determine fastest method to return a functioning system to the instructor and/or student (repair or replace)

  • Use Virtual Infrastructure Client software to manage virtual machine images

  • Create instructor and student accounts

  • Unlock systems locked by incorrect log in attempts or screensavers

  • Manage student accounts

  • Assist with boot-up and shutdown of systems when needed

  • Provide immediate support following unplanned power outages

  • Develop, test and install schoolhouse specific scripts to automate cleanup, database and networking functions as required

  • Perform disk images

  • Install maps on system disks and access to networked maps

  • Resolve printer issues / Modify print environment settings

  • Perform routine system maintenance: Destroy student created databases, remove student created files and directories, empty training databases and set system times to correspond with exercise settings

  • Support multiple shifts for training and exercises within contracted number of hours

  • Act as" over-the-shoulder" trainers for instructors and students

  • Determine message anomalies resulting from TACSIM, DSE or other exercise or training message feeds

  • Resolve address book issues affecting on-going training

  • Initiate software problem reports.
    Bachelor Degree OR a minimum of 6 years directly related work experience is required.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Senior Computer Technologist I Job

  • Ability to successfully complete the Stanley Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal, Education and Employment
  • Ability to successfully complete a Credit and/or Driving Records Checks may be conducted if required by the contract for continued employment
  • Possession of a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance is required to begin employment
  • Ability to maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance is required for continued employment; US Citizenship is required
  • Formal computer training, a technical certificate from an accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years hands-on PC software/hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
  • General understanding of Windows Operating Systems and MS-Office applications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift 35lbs equipment
  • Experience working with the Military / Government
  • Understanding of the operation of the DCGS-A System and associated software.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Senior Computer Technologist I Job

  • An advanced degree in an Information Technology or Information Systems field

  • CompTIA A certification

  • CompTIA Security certification

  • Microsoft MCP certification.
