Description:
The
Senior Computer Systems Engineer - Space
Flight Center will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Plan and execute a
variety of highly complex assignments
associated with managing and controlling
a 24x7 satellite data collection,
processing and distribution facility as
well as supporting data analysis and
software development environments
-
Maintain a large data archive (>2 PB) as
well as legacy satellite data receiving
stations
-
Perform monitoring,
troubleshooting and analysis of system,
application and network faults
-
Maintain and update to OS and
application software and firmware in
both server and end-user environments
-
Review and prepare documentation for
systems, tests and installation of
software
-
Evaluate, test and recommend
procedural, hardware and software
solutions to address project issues
-
Initiate preventive maintenance on the
operating systems as well as repair to
system/environment problems
-
Administer
and/or oversee systems/environment
solutions for multiple projects with
varying schedules which are critical to
the success of programs
-
Plan
system/environment requirements for
individual projects
-
Participate in the creation/maintenance
of the overall management plan
-
May act
as an internal consultant providing work
direction and technical guidance to
others
-
Regularly interact with project
management and clients.

Skill For Senior Computer Systems
Engineer - Space Flight Center Job
Ability
to
support large RAID NAS
units, Gigabit networking, Extreme
Networks managed switches, direct
end-users, network and system
troubleshooting and analysis tools,
high-availability system configurations,
and firewalls
Ability to
work independently and possess an
understanding of the customer
organization
Understanding of NASA
security requirements and processes is a
plus
Strong knowledge and skill in
Linux clusters/cloud computing, Wiki
administration, Patchlink, NASA IPAM,
Entrust PKI, Macintosh administration,
Legacy Solaris administration, Virtual
machine administration (VirtualBox and
VMWare), and configuration management
tools (subversion, git).
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
Senior Computer Systems Engineer - Space Flight Center Job

Bachelor's degree in related
technical discipline and 10+ years
of operating systems experience.
