The Principal Operator - Computer is responsible for monitoring and operating computers and related peripheral equipment.

Job Description:

The Principal Operator - Computer will perform all or some of the following Job description:

• Set up, monitor, and control computers and peripheral equipment, such as printers, tape and disk drives required to support NSWCCD batch processing and general computer operations

• Select and load batch processing jobs for NSWCCD, supporting CLBS

• Observe batch processing logs, resolve routine errors, and route complex error messages to appropriate personnel

• Confer with software engineering or programming personnel in the event errors require a change of instructions or sequence of operations

• Manipulate controls to rearrange sequence of job steps to continue operations when individual units malfunction

• Observe operation of equipment, control panels, verification printouts, error messages, and faulty output, and respond accordingly

• Assist in performing system back-ups

• Participate in special projects as required.

• 8-10 years of related computer operations experience
• 3 years operations experience supporting systems utilizing Oracle RDBMS and Oracle tools as the primary product
• 1 year operations experience supporting Navy Standard Systems including DIFMS, Integrated Logistics Support Management Information System (ILSMIS), Standard Labor Data Collection and Distribution Application (SLDCADA), Corporate Travel System (CTS), and/or the CLBS.
