Job Summary:
The
Distributed Computer Systems Analyst is
responsible for
installing, configuring, and supporting
an organization's local area network
(LAN), wide area network(WAN), and
Internet system or a segment of a
network system. He/She will maintain
network hardware and software, monitor
network to ensure network availability
to all system users and perform
necessary maintenance to support network
availability.
The
Distributed Computer Systems Analyst may
also assist other network support and
client server specialists to plan,
coordinate, and implement network
security measures.
Job
Description:
The
Distributed Computer Systems Analyst will perform all or some of the
following Job description:

Implement plans to safe guard
computer files against accidental or
unauthorized modification,
destruction, or disclosure and to
meet emergency data processing needs
-
Conduct and verify data backup of
servers under his/her authority
-
Conduct comprehensive annual
inventories of assigned computer
equipment
-
Modify computer security files to
incorporate new software, correct
errors, or change individual access
status
-
Confer with users to discuss issues
such as computer data access needs,
and security violations
-
Advise management of results of
these discussions
-
Monitor use of data files and
regulate access to safeguard
information in computer files
-
Recommend hardware or software for
purchase
-
Identify areas of operation, which
need upgraded equipment, such as
modems, fiber optic cables, and
telephone wires
-
Test
and evaluate hardware and software
to determine efficiency,
reliability, and compatibility with
existing system
-
Read
technical manuals and brochures to
determine equipment which meets
establishment requirements
-
Monitor system performance and
equipment capacity requirements
-
Conduct operational survey to
determine computer/network needs
-
Implement procedures for
installation, use, and solving
problems of communications hardware
and software
-
Assist users to identify and solve
hardware/software problems
-
Assist users in learning proper use
of computer equipment and software
-
Providing authoritative information
or advice on computer systems and
programs
-
Use
computer devices and software that
prevents and protects data and
property of the Agency
-
Operate a data transmission system,
including broadcasting, switching
and control
-
Execute Agency’s plan of action for
the distribution and setup of
equipment, machines, wiring or
programs to meet specifications.

Ability to compile monthly reports
