Job Summary:

The Data Coordinator II - Laboratory Computer Operations is responsible for performing and coordinating complex data processing activities. He/She will supervise and direct data acquisition, report preparation, and perform data file management.  

Job Description:

The Data Coordinator II - Laboratory Computer Operations will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Coordinate data processing activities between department or other locations and central computer installation to ensure timely, complete and accurate transmission of data

  • Coordinate changes/corrections to data; verify for accuracy; coordinate acquisition of data from different sources so files can be cross-checked; assess data quality

  • Work with other departments to obtain and provide necessary information, to locate, modify, and order necessary files, and to effectively resolve problems

  • Coordinate documentation of all data entry procedures to support consistency in data collection

  • Collect, code, and process data for computer input; may abstract information from available records; input/retrieve data on computer terminals

  • Create, maintain, and update files and records

  • Supervise or conduct data analyses, to provide clear and accurate reports

  • Generate projections and/or trends

  • Assist with design of system documentation, as required to support activity

  • Manipulate data in order to reformat, edit, select, and join data sets, as required to support activity

  • Perform elementary programming, as required to support activity

  • Request and distribute various computer-generated reports, letters, labels, and lists as required to support activity

  • May develop or monitor budgets, as required to support activity

  • May perform bookkeeping or clerical duties, as required to support activity

  • Order supplies, as required to support activity

  • Prepare clear and accurate manuals of procedures and guidelines for support staff consistent with activity/regulatory requirements

  • Assign work to maximize efficiency and evenly distribute workload

  • Evaluate and document work performance, and provide feedback

  • Effectively organize, design, and coordinate training materials and activities

  • Effectively train users on computer, methods and procedures.
