The Computer Service Consultant is responsible for providing support, assistance and advice in the use of computer hardware, software and networks to faculty, staff and students via telephone, email and walk-ins.

Job Description:

The Computer Service Consultant will perform all or some of the following Job description:

• Liaise between the customer community and higher levels of support or others within the department

• Manage user accounts, provide permissions/email account sharing, and create/delete shared server folders. Resolve end user problems

• Develop internal and external technical documentation

• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of software and documentation libraries

• Train and supervise student workers, as assigned

• Provide leadership, guidance and direction to students workers

• Evaluate performance and counsel student workers, as assigned. May recommend disciplinary action

• Participate in project meetings with technical departments to consult and produce project deliverables

• Participate in testing software or new process flow

• Work with other personnel to ensure product adequately meets all department standards

• Conduct instructional classes and outreach sessions for university community

• Stay informed of new developments and technologies by reading journals and other pertinent publications, maintaining contact with vendors, and participating in professional organizations, meetings and seminars

• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
