Job Summary:
The
OPS Computer Systems Specialist is
responsible for providing technical
assistance to computer system users.
He/She answers questions or
resolves computer problems for
clients in person, via telephone or
from remote locations. Job
Description:
The
OPS Computer Systems Specialist will perform all or some of the
following Job description:

Install and perform repairs to
hardware, software, and peripheral
equipment following design or
installation specifications
-
Responsible for keeping an inventory
of computer equipment and software
in assigned area
-
Assist clients
with procedures for surplus computer
equipment
-
Install hardware and
software; supervise installations of
communications hardware, wiring, and
services; identify and resolve
computer and communication issues
-
Process and track workload using the
agency incident management tracking
system
-
Test and monitor software,
hardware, and peripheral equipment
to evaluate use, effectiveness, and
adequacy of product for user
-
Enter
commands and observe system
functioning to verify correct
operations and detect errors
-
Prepare evaluations of software and
hardware and submit recommendations
to management for review
-
May take a
lead role in the planning, testing
and implementation of major projects
under the supervision of management
-
Read technical manuals, confer
with users, and conduct computer
diagnostics to determine nature of
problems and provide technical
assistance
-
Work directly with
hardware and software manufacturers
to resolve major problems
-
May
develop training materials and
procedures and conduct training
programs
-
Prepare administrative and
purchasing reports as required
-
Report day-to-day activities to supervisor(s) as required
-
Maintain
knowledge of hardware and software
by reading trade magazines and
technical manuals and attends
training seminars
-
Perform other
duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For OPS Computer Systems
Specialist Job
-
Knowledge of the following
Operating systems; Windows XP,
Windows 7
-
Knowledge of Office Productivity
Software: Microsoft Office 2003 and
2007; Adobe Reader and Acrobat,
various client VPN software
-
Knowledge of Microsoft’s Active
Directory and experience with user
accounts in AD
-
Knowledge of imaging software
(i.e. Norton Ghost, Microsoft
Deployment Toolkit)
-
Experience with assisting remote
mobile users
-
Experience with desktop and/or
network security
-
Experience with troubleshooting
hardware and software, TCP/IP and
printer configuration
-
Experience with assisting users
with data integrity
-
Good communication skills.
