Job Summary:
The
Unit Clerical Assistant - Hospital will
be responsible for providing clerical
assistance, medical records management,
order communication, and charge posting.
He/She will also be responsible for the
coordination of ancillary
testing/procedures and acting as
receptionist for the nursing unit.

The
Unit Clerical Assistant - Hospital will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

Act
as a liaison to hospital employees
and visitors
-
Respond to customers using the
intercom system, telephone and
face-to-face interaction
-
Notify physicians and pharmacy of
patient admission
-
Organize workflow activities
-
Respond during emergent situations
-
Demonstrate cost effective materials
management
-
Ensure patient charts contain
necessary forms
-
Document and maintain admission,
discharge and transfer log
-
Maintain inventory retention records
(daily master assignment sheets and
designated historical patient data)
-
Ensure daily charges are entered,
audited and reconciled
-
Incorporate the use of available
software programs to meet unit needs
-
Enter
orders for patient tests/procedures
-
Assemble, create and maintain
medical records
-
Participate in QI program.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For Unit Clerical Assistant - Hospital Job

Knowledge of basic secretarial
functions and medical terminology
-
Ability to operate office equipment,
telephone system, personal computer,
fax and copier
-
Demonstrated good time management
skills, interpersonal skills and
written and verbal communication
skills
-
Minimum one (1) year experience as
secretarial/administrative
coordinator in hospital/doctor's
office.
Minimum Education Requirements /
