The
Clerical Specialist I will be
responsible for performing a variety of
basic, entry-level clerical support
duties that may include receiving
visitors, answering and directing
telephone calls, maintaining department
files, photocopying, processing and
distributing incoming and outgoing mail.

The
Clerical Specialist I will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

Serve
as a receptionist or backup as
needed, providing first point of
contact to visitors, clients and
vendors
-
Greet
and assist visitors by providing
information or directions, or
escorting them to proper location
-
Answer incoming telephone calls and
either provide information or
forward call to the correct
individual
-
Open,
sort and distribute incoming and
outgoing mail and facsimiles
-
Handle returned mail, research and
correct address information
-
Compile and photocopy materials,
prepare mailings and handouts,
assemble and collate binders and
packets
-
Maintain files requiring
classification according to alpha
and numeric filing systems
-
Operate office machines such as a
copier facsimile machine, and
telephone system
-
Enter
basic data to screens, spreadsheets,
documents and forms, and produces
simple reports
-
Maintain general organizational and
departmental knowledge so that
information provided to callers and
visitors is current.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For Clerical Specialist I Job

Six
months experience in a general
office or customer service setting

Knowledge of or ability to quickly
learn business software may be
required

Skill
to enter and retrieve information
using a computer

Ability to work independently in a
fast paced, changing environment

Familiarity with alphanumeric filing
and the ability to sort and file by
name and number
-
Ability to work with tight schedules
and deadlines
-
Literacy skills to read and
comprehend simple, basic oral and
written instructions

Proven ability to deliver friendly
and efficient customer service

Skill
to operate a variety of office
machines quickly and efficiently,
such as telephone system, facsimile,
copier and personal computer

Human
relations skills to work effectively
in a teamwork environment with
associates from a variety of
backgrounds.
