Special Investigator Information Technology Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Special Investigator Information Technology will be responsible for collecting and reviewing evidence by examining systems; evaluating documents; examining records to locate links in chains of evidence and information; assembling and evaluating evidence to be used as corroboration or non-corroboration of the allegation; ensuring evidence is correctly
marked; ensuring chain of evidence is entered into record; and utilizing computer forensic software and tools to examine digital evidence and review
third party findings.

Job Description:

The Special Investigator Information Technology will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Identify and communicate potential network threats, vulnerabilities, and risk by providing solutions and process refinements; researching relevant customer, industry, and technical matters and documenting findings; interviewing business owners to determine areas of vulnerability and deliverables; analyzing data for current and future fraud trends; planning and executing proactive strategy for Corporate Investigations; participating with Systems Incident Response Team (SIRT) during incident response and analysis to help locate liability and system vulnerability

  • Develop internal and external liaison responsibilities by identifying business owners and establishing relationships; assisting outside agencies with requests; seeking out customer deliverables from the business units when planning strategy; meeting with business unit customers to discuss deliverables, new projects, and product roll-outs; providing consultation on potential risks and vulnerabilities of products, services, and processes; training customers; and working with the Ethics and Legal departments on investigative development

  • Conduct investigations of non-standard and idiosyncratic computer crimes, fraud, waste, and abuse matters by providing computer expert testimony; responding to allegations of computer intrusion, fraud, and policy violations from a variety of channels; developing fraud theory; gathering and evaluating documents, performing analysis, and drawing findings; conducting interviews of direct and indirect witnesses and presenting findings to business unit and law enforcement agencies; identifying vulnerabilities and recommending process refinements;
    preparing reports and evidence files for courtroom presentations; and reporting and testifying on computer crime findings

  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness

  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy

  • Ensure business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events

  • Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects for Special Investigations by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Special Investigator Information Technology Job

  • 3 years investigative experience
  • 5 years experience in the conduct of computer forensic examinations. 

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Special Investigator Information Technology Job

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field and 4 years experience in computer crimes casework/management, network security, or related field OR 6 years experience in computer crimes casework/management, network security, or related field
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Computer Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Encase Forensic Tool Certification (EFTC).
