Information Technology - IT - Manager Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Information Technology - IT - Manager is the first line leader of an IT team. He/She is highly focused upon developing each of his/her assigned team members by fully leveraging all facets of the IT career Development Program. Over a wide variety of assignments, the IT Manager will effectively collaborate with customers and suppliers to align work efforts, develop/execute tactical plans that enable successful business operations and, when applicable, business transformation.

The Information Technology - IT - Manager will actively collaborate across IT and business areas to ensure successful introduction of change. He/She will fully be accountable for ensuring accurate accounting of and appropriate deployment of resources.  

Job Description:

The Information Technology - IT - Manager will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Develop team members by fully leveraging all facets of the IT Career Development Program

  • Ensure effective development and deliver reviews for assigned personnel

  • Actively manage/ensure creation of individual development plans and associate training plans for assigned personnel to ensure that they are both feasible and in line with organizational goals

  • Actively coach others toward demonstrating all behaviors defined by Company Operating Principles of Simplicity, Accountability and Collaboration

  • Actively contribute to staff performance review activities and talent management reviews

  • Achieve complete alignment of work efforts with customers based upon mutual agreed upon ROI

  • Deliver project (or product) requirements on time, within budget and in accordance with specified levels of quality

  • In collaboration with customers and suppliers, develop, implement and ensure ongoing execution / continuous improvement of measured service level objectives balanced with cost control

  • Develop and leverage partnerships (and relationships) with internal and external customers and suppliers to meet business needs

  • Effectively measure and report results of service and development work to customers in terms that they see as valuable and understandable

  • Develop and execute change management plans using established IT methods

  • Ensure frequent, continuous and effective communications across IT, with key suppliers and business partners via both formal and informal channels / mechanisms

  • Establish credibility with partners while managing expectations

  • Lead others to exploit available processes and technology to “build once…use many”

  • Ensure disciplined and consistent use of Project Management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to plan, organize, actuate and control delivery of IT products and services

  • Lead assigned personnel and others to work with process and architecture owners to continuously improve solutions to technical and business problems

  • Develop / execute tactical plans that enable successful business operations and, when applicable, business transformation

  • Ensure resources are accurately allocated in line with tactical plans and appropriately accounted for at all times

  • Carefully develop and manage assigned annual capital and expense budgets.

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Information Technology - IT - Manager Job

  • Financial Applications experience
  • Experience in reporting, analytics and forecasting business processes and applications
  • Previous lead or management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with and influence personnel at all levels of the Company Enterprise
  • Exceptional communications (written and oral), change leadership and customer service skills
  • High sense of urgency
  • High level knowledge of applications and application interfaces with enterprise systems
  • High level knowledge of SAP applications
  • Significant experience working with cross-functional information technology teams
  • Knowledge and/or previous experience with formal Change Management processes
  • Strong problem solving ability (to include analytical, prioritization, and escalation skills)
  • Strong planning skills
  • Strong understanding of process and project management
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in a fast changing environment.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Information Technology - IT - Manager Job

  • Four-year college degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
