The
IT Specialist - Systems Administration will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
Monitor
and troubleshoot systems
availability
Schedule, monitor, and verify the
integrity of systems
Serve
as a member of a team
Remove drivers and edit systems
files related to uninstalled
software and sanitize hardware
retired from network operation
Install server upgrades (software
and hardware), schedule
downtime to minimize user impact
including system migration and
hardware replacement tasks
Implement and develop disaster
recovery procedures
Install operating systems and
security patches
Perform normal security procedures,
able to advise users on
standard security protocol
Write
functional scripts in an
administrative language (shell,
Perl, etc.)
Conform to policies and procedures
for system use.

Administration Job
Knowledge of the customary
approaches, techniques, and
requirements appropriate to an
assigned computer applications area
or computer specialty area in an
organization
Knowledge
and ability to
plan
the sequence of actions necessary to
accomplish the assignment where this
entailed coordination with others
outside the organizational unit and
development of project controls
Ability to
adapt
guidelines or precedents to the
needs of the assignment
Ability to
schedule maintenance activities
during off-peak usage periods
Ability to resolve problems such as
defective hardware components or
corrupted software
Ability to
runn
tests to verify operability and
functionality
Ability to
implement systems security plans and
policies and preventive maintenance
schedules.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For
IT Specialist - Systems Administration Job
Ph.D.
or equivalent doctoral degree in
computer science, engineering,
information science, information
systems management, mathematics,
operations research, statistics, or
technology management or in one or
more of the fields identified above
and required the development or
adaptation of applications, systems
or networks. OR
Three full years of progressively
higher level graduate education
leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent
doctoral degree in computer science,
engineering, information science,
information systems management,
mathematics, operations research,
statistics, or technology management
or in one or more of the fields
identified above and required the
development or adaptation of
applications, systems or networks.
One year of graduate education is
creditable in accordance with its
relationship to a year of full-time
study at the school attended. OR
At least 1 year of combined graduate
education and experience
